Photo Flash: Opening Night of WALLENBERG at WPPAC

Wallenberg, a new musical drama starring Scott Mikita Broadway's The Phantom of the Opera opened this past Saturday night, October 30, at the White Plains Performing Arts Center.  The opening night celebration was held at Blue in White Plains.  Wallenberg, which launches WPPAC's 5-show mainstage season, will run through November 21, 2010.

Scott Mikita is joined by Leah Horowitz Les Miserables, who portrays the Baroness Elisabeth Kemeny; Joe Cassidy who plays Adolph Eichmann; Craig Waletzko who plays Per Anger, the diplomat with whom Raoul Wallenberg worked; Alice Evans, as Raoul Wallenberg's mother; and Nick Verina as Vilmos Langfelder. Also, featured in the cast are Eric Ulloa as Pal Szalai, Mark Campbell as the Baron Gabor Kemeny, Lauren Lebowitz as Rosa, and Benjamin Milan-Polisar as David.

The 26-person cast is rounded out with Darrel Blackburn, Bret Carr, Ken Clark, Ron DeStefano, Danielle Frimer, Kera Halbersleben, Dennis Holland, Tommy Labanaris, Robert Kalman, Mary Jo McConnell, Kelly McCormick, Laura Patinkin, Sophia Roth, Staci Rudnitsky, Michael Scott, and David Young.

The show is directed by Emmy Award-winner Annette Jolles and music direction is by Darren R. Cohen. The White Plains Performing Arts Center is located at 11 City Place, White Plains, NY 10601, about 30 minutes from Manhattan. The theatre is walking distance from the White Plains Metro North station. Wallenberg plays Thursday-Saturday evenings at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm, with additional special performances, Thursday, November 4 at 2pm, Tuesday, November 9 at 8pm; and Thursday, November 18 at 10:00am.  For tickets or subscriptions, visit www.wppac.com or call Ticket Fusion at 1-877-548-3237.

Wallenberg, an epic musical, tells the inspiring story of one of the greatest heroes of the 20th century. This one man's unconventional acts of bravery saved the lives of over 100,000 people during World War II. Between face-offs with the notorious Nazi colonel, Adolf Eichmann, and secret dealings with Baroness Elisabeth Kemény, the wife of one of Hungary's most prominent fascist leaders, Raoul Wallenberg was able to accomplish more in six months than most people do in a lifetime. When the war ended, Wallenberg was abducted by the Russians, never to be seen again.

Wallenberg has a book and lyrics by the 2006 Kleban Award-winning team of Laurence Holzman & Felicia Needleman and a score by Benjamin Rosenbluth.
